Chihuahua Sweater

While many people dress their pets in human-like clothing for fashion or for fun, in some cases, it is a necessity. For example, the Chihuahua, a tiny toy breed of dog is particularly susceptible to cold weather, and characteristically, is notorious for always shivering... in relatively mild weather. Because of the huge (and growing!) demand for Chihuahua sweaters, the supply has truly become top-notch, and even some of the most notable designers and renowned names in the fashion industry are taking part in making Chihuahua sweaters!

When looking for a Chihuahua sweater, look for warmth over fashion first. Because of the large supply, and growing demand, many Chihuahua sweaters are simply adorable no matter what, so it's important to choose a style and fabric that will really keep Fido warm. If your dog will tolerate it, look for styles with higher necks, especially if you're looking to keep the dog warm in colder months. Chihuahua's, despite their small stature, tend to have long, thin necks that get chilly very quickly! Some Chihuahua sweaters come in turtlenecks as a result.

For other warmer seasons, your Chihuahua may still need a sweater to keep off the chill. Look for lightweight sweaters or vest-like sweaters that breathe and allow your pup to move. Perhaps most importantly, look for sweaters with buttons, hooks or Velcro that run down the stomach. These are easy to put on your dog, and initially getting them on the first time will spare the dog from being so traumatized that he won't want to wear a sweater again!
